After graduation
I went to work for Allstate Insurance Co. in Shaker Hts. Unbelievably,
I spent the next 36 years there. In 2000, I was
given the opportunity to take an early retirement when my job went
to Texas. Without hesitation, I retired in June, 2000. At the same
time I retired I moved to Stow, OH to be closer to family. That was
the best thing I could have done. In 2002, I decided to have a total
knee replacement and spent a few weeks with my nephew and his family.
His son and daughter-in-law had just had a baby and they were living
with my nephew and his wife. My retirement came at the perfect time
for me to become the "official baby-sitter" and spoiler of
my great nephews two girls. Also, my great niece has a little boy and
another due in June. I have since had a second knee replacement (in
2004) and have gone back to work part-time and look forward to catching
up with all of the activities that I had to give up before. I have
truly been blessed in the last five years with the retirement, family,
church family and the perfect part-time job. I've enjoyed many trips
in the last few years and have found I enjoy just jumping in the car
and taking off. My dream is to take off sometime and just travel around
the United States for a few months. I LOVE my life.
In the last few years I have discovered that I was not the only shy,
quiet person in high school that missed out on a lot of fun and friends.
I'm amazed at what 40 years has done to all of us. Especially in recent
years, we all seem to come together at these reunions, as if we all
were best friends in high school. I have a wonderful time at the reunions
and I look forward to all future ones to see all of my "best friends". |
